Keep track of your pet

Watch this live webTV show with TV vet Emma Milne for the truth about micro chipping

Show date: Friday 28 th May 2010

Show time: 13.00

We all want to keep our much loved pet safe, and there is no greater worry than losing them. It's a sad fact that nearly 1000 pets go missing every day and only a small proportion of them ever find their way home.  Pets can stray for a number of reasons; they can become spooked during thunder storms or firework season, wander too far from home or become a little too curious whilst out on a walk.

Cats Hunt for Britain's Most Advenutrous Cat
Posted by dillondog on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @ 03:17 PM GMT (245 reads)

Go-Cat writes "The Hunt is on for Britain’s Most Adventurous Cat

A nationwide search for Britain’s most adventurous cat has been launched today, to celebrate fearless felines that live life to the full.

The new Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS honour Bobo, the amazing, acrobatic free-running star of Go-Cat’s latest TV ad, and aim to find cats that make the most of every opportunity to explore, play and hunt for adventure, wherever they are.

Have you ever wondered what your cat gets up to on his escapades? Does your cat have a real sense of adventure? Is he an intrepid explorer, often to be found miles from home, roving the neighbourhood or climbing the highest trees? He may have been on an incredible journey, or even committed an amazing feat of bravery. If so, Go-Cat wants to hear from you.

It’s easy to enter the Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS. Simply visit www.go-cat.co.uk and upload a picture and a video, if you have one, of your furry friend, with no more than 250 words to explain why he’s the most adventurous cat in Britain.

If your cat wins the top prize, you could be jetting off to the wild safari lands of the Masai Mara in Kenya to see really big adventurous cats in action. There’s also a whole host of runner-up prizes that will keep the most adventurous cat lovers entertained – from a day learning circus skills to an afternoon hovercraft flying.

Go-Cat spokesperson, Alison Ashman, says: “We’re looking for cats of all ages with bucket loads of cat’itude, who live life to the full and have extraordinary adventures. Whether they’re intrepid explorers, plucky climbers or give the neighbours’ cats a run for their money, we can’t wait to read your stories.”

The Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS have been launched in honour of Bobo, the amazing, acrobatic free-running star of Go-Cat’s latest TV ad, to celebrate fearless felines that live life to the full, just like Bobo.
The closing date for entries to the Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS is the 7th May 2010 and the winning cat will be announced in June 2010 on the Go-Cat website.

Visit www.go-cat.co.uk for full terms and conditions and entry guidelines.

Hot News Take Five with Stedman

Take Five with Stedman

80s legend Stedman Pearson tells us what it's going to be like playing Michael Jackson in ‘Thriller Live' and his life post Five star.

As one of five brothers and sisters in the 80's pop band Five Star, Stedman enjoyed a string of UK Top 10 hits including ‘System Addict', ‘Let Me Be The One' and ‘Love Take Over'. Twenty-five years later, he is excited to be returning to his performing roots for one of the most hotly anticipated events of 2010, the ‘Thriller Live' world tour. With his softly spoken voice and striking resemblance to the King of Pop, it's easy to see why Steadman has been chosen to play Michael in front of audiences across the globe.

In the following video he chats about his life post Five Star including his new album ‘Eliminate' and the real star in his life, his faithful companion; dog Joe to Catrina, former model and ambassador for Pet Protect.

General Diet and Nutrition for Dogs
Posted by dillondog on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 @ 06:58 PM GMT (474 reads)

In my daily work as a dog behaviourist I always cover the subject of the dog’s diet with my clients. In some cases a change of diet alone can make a noticeable difference in the dog’s behaviour.

Go in to an average well stocked pet store and you’re likely to be overwhelmed with glossy packaging and numerous varieties of dog food available. The price range also varies immensely and as a rough rule of thumb- you get what you pay for. Your dog’s diet forms the building blocks and repair material for it’s daily activities, so skimping on this critical element can not only lead to poor behaviour, but offers the potential for health issues in further life.

General Top Tips for a Pet Perfect Christmas
Posted by dillondog on Monday, November 16, 2009 @ 02:48 PM GMT (508 reads)

PurinaPR writes "Christmas for many is a time of guilt-free over indulgence - an opportunity to eat one too many mince pies, gobble an abundance of chocolate and add that extra dollop of brandy butter on the Christmas pudding.
For pet owners, the desire to treat ourselves during the festive season, can translate into a tendency to over-feed our pets, often with human food, which is not only highly calorific, it can also be extremely dangerous.

General An agile dog is a happy dog
Posted by dillondog on Thursday, November 12, 2009 @ 04:58 PM GMT (487 reads)

This video demonstrates the benefits of dog agility for both you and your four-legged friend Dogs have always been known as man’s best friend.

With long walks in the park and nights cuddled up in front of the TV, the relationship we share with our canine companion is a special one. Simple dog agility exercises can be an ideal way to develop even further the bond you have with your pet as well as improve your dog’s obedience and behaviour. And it’s not only an enjoyable way to not only improve your dog’s health and fitness, but yours too! Best of all, it’s easy to do and absolutely anyone can give it a go.

Pet owners can use nature’s resources to construct their own course, from weaving in and out of trees to jumping over logs. You can also buy training kits at minimal cost to set up in your back garden or local park. Of course, with all of this additional exercise a well-balanced diet has never been so important for your dog.

Look for hearty foods like Supadog from Burgess, make sure they are nutritionally-packed, provide energy and sustenance, and will set him or her up for a good work out!

In the following video, Jeremy Edwards and his five-year-old Boston Terrier Molly are put through their paces by dog agility expert Gina Graham. Jeremy and Molly demonstrate just how accessible dog agility is, whilst showing us the great benefits it can bring - including good health, bonding and interaction, and best of all fun! Cats ‘QWERTY CATS’ – NEW FELINE CRAZE SWEEPS THE NATION
Posted by dillondog on Monday, September 7, 2009 @ 06:03 PM GMT (772 reads)

FelixPR writes "Kittens across the UK have developed a subtle new way of causing mischief in the home, by pouncing on keyboards to grab their owners’ attention.

The increase in ‘Qwerty Cat’ behaviour – a phrase coined by animal behaviourist, Peter Neville, after the keys on the top line of a keyboard – has been identified during a nationwide search to find the UK’s most mischievous kitten.
