Cats Hunt for Britain's Most Advenutrous Cat
Posted by dillondog on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @ 03:17 PM GMT (299 reads)

Go-Cat writes "The Hunt is on for Britain’s Most Adventurous Cat

A nationwide search for Britain’s most adventurous cat has been launched today, to celebrate fearless felines that live life to the full.

The new Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS honour Bobo, the amazing, acrobatic free-running star of Go-Cat’s latest TV ad, and aim to find cats that make the most of every opportunity to explore, play and hunt for adventure, wherever they are.

Have you ever wondered what your cat gets up to on his escapades? Does your cat have a real sense of adventure? Is he an intrepid explorer, often to be found miles from home, roving the neighbourhood or climbing the highest trees? He may have been on an incredible journey, or even committed an amazing feat of bravery. If so, Go-Cat wants to hear from you.

It’s easy to enter the Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS. Simply visit www.go-cat.co.uk and upload a picture and a video, if you have one, of your furry friend, with no more than 250 words to explain why he’s the most adventurous cat in Britain.

If your cat wins the top prize, you could be jetting off to the wild safari lands of the Masai Mara in Kenya to see really big adventurous cats in action. There’s also a whole host of runner-up prizes that will keep the most adventurous cat lovers entertained – from a day learning circus skills to an afternoon hovercraft flying.

Go-Cat spokesperson, Alison Ashman, says: “We’re looking for cats of all ages with bucket loads of cat’itude, who live life to the full and have extraordinary adventures. Whether they’re intrepid explorers, plucky climbers or give the neighbours’ cats a run for their money, we can’t wait to read your stories.”

The Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS have been launched in honour of Bobo, the amazing, acrobatic free-running star of Go-Cat’s latest TV ad, to celebrate fearless felines that live life to the full, just like Bobo.
The closing date for entries to the Go-Cat BOBO AWARDS is the 7th May 2010 and the winning cat will be announced in June 2010 on the Go-Cat website.

Visit www.go-cat.co.uk for full terms and conditions and entry guidelines.

FelixPR writes "Kittens across the UK have developed a subtle new way of causing mischief in the home, by pouncing on keyboards to grab their owners’ attention.

The increase in ‘Qwerty Cat’ behaviour – a phrase coined by animal behaviourist, Peter Neville, after the keys on the top line of a keyboard – has been identified during a nationwide search to find the UK’s most mischievous kitten.

Cats Holly has Kittens...
Posted by dillondog on Monday, April 6, 2009 @ 05:44 PM GMT (1724 reads)

FelixPR writes "HOLLY WILLOUGHBY LAUNCHES SEARCH TO FIND MOST MISCHIEVOUS KITTEN IN BRITAIN

With 22% of households owning a cat, they’re one of the most popular pets in Britain and an exciting new competition that launches today is set to appeal to our feline-friendly nation. FELIX Kitten Factor is a search to find the most mischievous kitten in the UK and for every entry FELIX will be donating £1 to the UK’s leading feline charity, Cats Protection.

TV presenter Holly Willoughby is launching the FELIX Kitten Factor. It’s a campaign that is close to her heart as she grew up with rehomed cats. “My cat, Roxie, is such a mischievous little rascal,” she said. “I have a feeling that she secretly rules my home when I'm not around! I expect the entries that come into the FELIX Kitten Factor will show that I am not alone in the feeling of companionship a cat can give. Plus, the money raised for Cats Protection is great – it’s brilliant that such a fun, light-hearted campaign will also help find loving homes for less fortunate kittens.” "

Cats Lillies can be a danger to your Cat
Posted by admin on Sunday, May 8, 2005 @ 12:30 PM GMT (1564 reads)

Did you know this popular flower is toxic to your cat? In fact, many members of the lily family have been found to be toxic, including the day lily and the tiger lily (although there's no need to worry about the non-toxic calla lily, peace lily, or glory lily). Eating just one leaf of a toxic lily can result in severe poisoning, and within a short time your cat will exhibit signs of toxicity.

Cats Why does my cat drink dirty water?
Posted by admin on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 @ 02:41 PM GMT (730 reads)

You know that cats should always have a supply of water, especially if you are feeding them dried food. There on your nice clean kitchen floor is a bowl of nice clean fresh water, in a nice clean bowl.

What does your cat do? Maybe gives the bowl a sniff and walks away from it, or just ignores the bowl completely, as if water were the last thing a self respecting cat would consider drinking.

Cats CATS SHOULD BE TESTED EARLY FOR FELINE LEUKEMIA
Posted by admin on Saturday, February 26, 2005 @ 04:00 PM GMT (658 reads)

As HIV does in people, the feline leukemia virus inserts a copy of its DNA into a cat's cells. These cells may later be transformed into cancer cells or cells that no longer function normally.

Dr. Kenneth Harkin, associate professor of clinical sciences at Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, said any cat can be affected, but chances decrease as the cat grows older

Cats Anaemia in cats
Posted by admin on Sunday, February 22, 2004 @ 03:27 PM GMT (3002 reads)

Anaemia is defined as reduced numbers of red blood cells (RBCs) in the circulation. Cats are particularly prone to the development of anaemia and hence we often see anaemic feline patients. Feline RBCs have a shorter lifespan (70 days) than many other mammalian species (eg, 110 to 120 days in dogs and humans) meaning that anaemia can develop quite rapidly in cats.

Cats Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD)
Posted by admin on Sunday, February 22, 2004 @ 03:19 PM GMT (863 reads)

Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) describes a collection of conditions that can affect the bladder and/or urethra of cats. Unfortunately, the clinical signs are rarely indicative of a particular disease. While there are many conditions that can result in signs of FLUTD (see below) the vast majority of cases are idiopathic (ie we cannot find the cause).
